Through three quarters of play, the Iron Rods found themselves in a bout with the Flaming Swords. They led 34-31 to begin the fourth quarter. The largest lead of the game to that point had been five points late in the third quarter, and it looked as if the game would stay that way to the end.
The Iron Rods decided they had different plans. They would go on an 11 - 2 run to push their lead to 12 points. From that point, the Rods would coast to win 53-41. Mangum led the Iron Rods with 18 points and also added 5 rebounds. Cowan continued to impress. He had 14 points, five rebounds, and four assists.
The big story of this game was told at the foul line. The Flaming Swords were whistled for 15 fouls while the Iron Rods only were called for five. The ability of the Iron Rods to get to the free throw line was key. They were able to drive to the hoop, draw the contact, and give themselves an opportunity to score from the line.
The Flaming Swords were led by Johnson. He had 15 points, four rebounds, and dished out five assists.

Wow what a game. It is always intriguing when the underdog keeps the game close. I was making a few observations about the league. It appears, at least from a win/loss standpoint, that the Modern Day Division is better than the Ancient Day Division. Having said that, how are you going to arrange the playoffs when the season is finished? Will the winner of each division play in the championship? Anyway, cool stuff. By the way, I played some games over the weekend. I'm going to post the results on my DBA blog. It was quite a thrill ride including a major upset.
