The Pioneers built an early lead and held off a late surge to beat the Flaming Swords. The Pioneers found themselves up 21-11 with two minutes remaining in the second quarter and looked to cruise, but led by only six at the half because of a late Flaming Sword rally. The Flaming Swords rallied again midway into the third quarter, and tied the game up at 27-27 after a three pointer by Chad Johnson (SF). The Pioneers opened up the 4th quarter with a 10-4 run and held on from there.
Chad Johnson, one of the better players in the league, led the Flaming Swords with 16 points, and collected 7 rebounds. He struggled late in the game as he missed a couple of shots that would have given his team a shot at winning the game.
