Vegas has picked BYU to win by 6.Here is a look into why BYU is favored by six:
Although UCLA beat BYU 27-17 in September, BYU has looked like the best team since. They won 9 straight games to finish the year, and have significantly improved since the first meeting with the Bruins. The offense, that was very much turnover prone in the first meeting, has done a great job at holding on to the ball.. UCLA, on the other hand, has lost 5 out of their last 7 games, fired their coach, and will have an interim head coach in the defensive coordinator Dewayne Walker.
Why UCLA might win:
UCLA seems to be fired up under their new coach. Many would like Walker to take over as their coach. Many believe that this bowl game may be a pre-coach test. If they play a great game, he may get the nod shortly after.
UCLA may come out fired up knowing they already beat the cougars this year. They held a
20-3 advantage at half time, and held off BYU's run late in the game. Their defense caused three turnovers that led to 10 of their points. If their highly touted defensive line can get to Hall again, BYU will have a tough time taking control of this game.
UCLA also has better athletes. They are are in a better conference and have better access to better recruits.
UCLA may have thrown in some new plays and strategies for this game. BYU did not do well against Tulsa when they threw in some nasty trick plays during the bye week before playing the cougars.
Why BYU might win:
BYU is on a roll. They have not allowed a 100 yard rusher in any game this season. Their defense is solid, and their offense has improved dramatically. They make just enough plays to win each game. They have many weapons to turn to: Unga, who has totalled over 1800 total yards rushing and receiving, Collie who is BYU's deep threat. He caught 2 TD's against UCLA already this year. Pitta, can catch any pass thrown his way, and knows how to get open, and not too mention Vakapuna, Tonga, Allen, Reed, and George. All have made plays throughout the year.
UCLA's qb situation is looking bad. Olson is hurt and questionable for this game. Cowan is out for the game, so it could be up to the 3rd string qb to lead the bruins. It looks like Olson will play, but they need a strong game at that position. Olson played poorly in the first game against BYU, and now that he is injured he may struggle even more.
UCLA is also without Khalil Bell, one of their best running backs. Without him, they may need to rely on Markee more.
My Prediction:
I think BYU wins 27-21. BYU will be up 27-14, but the Bruins will score late to make it look close.

Your blog looks great Jas and now I can leave comments! I agree with you, I'm sure BYU is going to pull out the win. Love ya!
sorry bro, but I think that Byu is going to lose. I sure hope I am wrong, but didn't we lose to them this year already? I don't have score predictions, but it will probably be a close game.

I don't think Bronco would leave BYU and coach elsewhere, at least not yet. He has gotten off to a good start and I think he will stay to see where it will lead. He will stay long term like LaVell Edwards.
